Bill Wendling was more than just one of our employees, he was NCH Wellness. And, if you knew Bill, you knew he put his heart and soul into making our Wellness program one of the best in the country.
Bill had been with the Wellness Center for 23 years and in that time helped us grow from a small workout room in the old Thunderbird Motel to the two, state-of-the-art, modern facilities that we run today. He was instrumental in guiding us through every facet of development, construction, and operations and we miss him every day.
Not only did Bill devote his professional career to building and running Wellness Centers, he championed programs that furthered the careers of those interested in pursuing the health and wellness field.
Bill helped coordinate an internship program that provided students with the ability to develop their skills under the guidance of professionals. NCH Wellness interns learn the skills needed to be proficient in the field, including fitness testing, teaching classes, designing programs for all fitness levels, and learning the ropes of running a business.
Through the years, Bill touched so many lives in so many wonderful ways. He inspired others to achieve and exceed their goals, and his radiant smile will always be remembered as the "face of NCH Wellness."
To acknowledge Bill's commitment to NCH and the community, the NCH Healthcare Foundation has created a Memorial Fund in his honor.
Donations made to the Bill Wendling Memorial Fund will directly benefit NCH Wellness programs, like the internship program he helped to establish, and facility needs, such as bringing in the latest workout equipment.
To further recognize Bill's legacy, the NCH Wellness staff will plant a tree in his honor in the Beatrice Branch Briggs Founders Park, adjacent to the Dr. John N. Briggs Wellness Center at NCH Downtown Hospital. Bill was instrumental in the development of this beautiful landscape and will forever be remembered there for all he has done to promote and advance health and wellness in our community.
